Free Valentino Dixon

Murderer, free man, painter, and prisoner are the words Attica inmate Valentino Dixon has been called the most in his past 22 years.

Dixon has been an inmate at the Attica Correctional Facility for the past 22 years, and will remain there for maybe the rest of his life. He was convicted of murder on August 10, 1991 even though the evidence was sketchy.

He did not get a good representation in court, and never got the chance to fully explain his case. Although the same person said that they couldn't identify Dixon as the killer, almost a year later they could. Multiple witnesses have came forward since the case saying that Lamarr Scott was the killer, even himself. And still their remains no justice for Dixon.

Even though their is no actual proof, no clear video, the evidence points that Lamarr Scott killed Torriano Jackson. It does not point at all in the direction of Dixon. The only thing that points towards Dixon is the person who said they witnessed him kill Jackson, but then that same person told a reporter, after Dixon was convicted, that he lied.

So why hasn't Dixon been freed?

The judicial system's rules have not allowed it. So because of a false witness and no representation, a free man sits in jail and waits while his loved ones slowly die away, and he can't spend their last days with them.

But Dixon does get some popularity, and that gives him hope of a second chance to be free. Art.

Dixon sits in his cell all day drawing away, and focusing on his art. His art allows him to get away from the wasted life he is living.

He chooses to draw and illustrate golf courses he has never stepped on, or never seen. He draws Augusta.

This man has gone through much tragedy, and living a life he hasn't chosen for himself, a life people have chosen for him, and ones that have never given him a chance at freedom. But yet he chooses not to sit in his cell and go crazy, but he chooses to draw the most beautiful golf course on the face of the planet.

Free Dixon.
